New description:

 To reproduce:

  * Set a pounce on your friend who uses the official AIM client.
  * Set the send message to be <whatever
  * Wait for the pounce to activate.

 I had a pounce like this, and they kept asking me why I was im'ing them a
 blank message.  I changed the pounce to be <whatever and they said it
 showed up how I intended it to "<whatever" is what they saw.

Comment:

 Looks like we need to make sure the message is properly escaped before
 sending on prpls supporting HTML?
