 Aha!  This is the problem (it is unfortunate that it causes the program to
 exit, but I don't think there is much we can do about it).

 You should be able to uninstall your English aspell dictionary (using
 Add/Remove Programs) and then reinstall it manually [wiki:"Installing
 Pidgin#IsthereawaytoinstallSpell-checkingsupportAspellmanually" as
 described in the FAQ].
