New description:
I accidently tried to use the "New Instant Message" dialogue to join an
IRC channel (i.e. I entered the channel name and started a conversation).
I closed the tab again and now (correctly) used the "Join a Chat" dialogue
to join the channel, and everything worked. The problem is now, the people
in the channel are not shown on the right part of the window (it says "0
people in room"), but I can write and recieve messages from them as they
write, and the list grows as more people are joining while I'm in the room
(but only those people who joined in the meantime appear in the list).
This behaviour is reproducible, and I don't experience it if I do not use
the "New Instant Message" dialogue before. I can only get rid of it by
restarting Pidgin :-)
Additionally, I get "Unrecognized message 328" in the debug log.
