 *You* choose to close the conversation window after each message, not
 everyone who uses untabbed conversations does that. The default pidgin
 logging method is not designed with that usage pattern in mind, if you
 want a better logging method you can write a plugin which does what you
 want (as logging methods are addable via plugins).

 We cannot hold a conversation open until the remote person closes their
 window, because we have no guarantee they will ever do so, no guarantee
 that their client generates such messages at all, and most protocols don't
 have such notifications anyway, not to mention that being a bad criterion
 to base local policy on.
