 Since I've used that "trick" to get all my contacts full names I no longer
 had users with their emails as their aliases to test it.
 But... I renamed my .purple/ and now all my gmail contacts show their
 emails as their alias again.
 Then, I did "Get Info" for everyone of them and now they all show their
 correct alias (the full name).

 I've checked the roster (:P) and none of the buddies on my list had their
 name attribute.
 The weird this is that the other contacts on the list, some even with [jid
 ="some_non-gmail_user at non-gmail.com" subscription="none"], had their
 correct name tag. Even the gmail users, that I no longer have in my buddy
 list, have their name tag, but not the ones that are currently on my list.
