 I'm having this issue as well.. I don't have an ICQ account but it
 certainly affects my AIM accounts. I've tried with my usual setup (plugins
 and settings) as well as after a full delete of all Pidgin-related files
 and settings.

 As dustin said above, this bug was introduced in the 2.7.5 release. The
 feature was working as expected in 2.7.4 and below.
