 petesky: I don't think there were any changes in 2.7.3 related to this,
 but it's possible.

 It seems more likely that one of AOL's servers was having problems when
 you tried, and the first few times when I tried (file transfers get
 proxied through AOL servers if Pidgin isn't able to establish a direct
 connection between the two users).  Or maybe the first few times you tried
 Pidgin used one method to establish the connection, but when you tried 7
 hours ago it used another method.  And maybe the earlier method is buggy
 but the latter one is not--this is one reason why it's important to have a
 [TipsForBugReports#ObtainingaDebugLog debug log] from the failed transfer
 attempt.
