 Hello,

 I was the author of the Meanwhile library and subsequently of the Sametime
 plugin for Gaim/Pidgin to make use of the protocol. I started working on
 it while I was at IBM as a means to give myself a better IM client than
 the ones that were available. However, I left IBM, which means I no longer
 was using Sametime at all. This made it very difficult to do things like
 reverse engineer the protocol any further, and unfortunately nobody else
 has shown interest in doing so.

 If you are very keen on resolving issues within Pidgin, I recommend taking
 a look at the Meanwhile project, and thinking about whether you or anyone
 you know may be interested in the challenge of further reverse engineering
 this very interesting protocol.

 It was an extremely fun project, and I am glad to have had the time to
 work on it. But it is now out of my reach to develop a protocol that I do
 not use. I sincerely hope that someone will step up to the plate. I do not
 believe that I was the only one capable of doing this work!
