 That checkbox became the 'Connection security' dropdown.

 That certainly does sound like a facebook internal problem and sounds
 unlike the original report here. I'd see if your problem persists or goes
 away on its own. If it persists you can file a new ticket for it and maybe
 someone will be able to tease out what facebook is doing.
