 I can confirm patch working fine here :). I'm using pidgin 2.10.7 with the
 patch backported in Ubuntu 13.04, no freezes at all now (before it would
 reliably freeze 100% of the time if I opened pidgin, logged out of my
 ubuntu session, logged in and tried to open pidgin)
