 My previous comment was a reply to Blynx only. I wasn't paying enough
 attention to realize there were more comments.

 That said, the other stuff is still a duplicate of #414. You want to have
 "John Smith (Work)" and "John Smith (Personal)". Then you'll get the right
 results regardless of protocol. It could just as easily be the case that
 John Smith has an XMPP account at work and an XMPP account at home.
