 I assume that it because the Yahoo protocol doesn't allow a message in
 this status. If it does, then its a bug that its not allowing you to enter
 one.

 "Not at desk" is a status for Yahoo, not simply "Away" with the message
 "Not at desk". You can be "Not at desk" with a message "at a meeting". I
 think there is a bug here in that the status box shows "Away" while you
 are typing the message, rather than "Not at desk".
