 I use emacs keybindings on GNOME - gtk_key_theme set via the gconf tool.

 My emacs keybindings works well on pidgin, except for the C-f key
 (forward-char) which continues to be bound to the search dialog, even in
 the conversation text-input field.

 Wouldn't it make more sense to make this keybinding work as in emacs, in
 the text-input fields, and perform search everywhere else? As a sidenote,
 this is exactly what happens on Firefox, where C-f binds to forward-char
 in text-input fields, and to the search function otherwise.
