 I have a doubt that that uname error is related to that C error (though
 maybe it is). Do you have the basic build environment tools (gcc, ld,
 make, autoconf, automake, etc.) installed on your machine? What distro are
 you running? Is there not a package from your distribution that you can
 use? Can you find the line in your config.log that includes the
 "configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log'
 for more details." error and paste the section around that line to this
 ticket?
