machines/directories you should look into tools that perform this job
better than standard copy does, that is tools like rsync and unison.
Well I prefer not to compress my files on my backups, so I can easily
access them, that's why I have lots of space. I use synctoy, but due to
the immense number of files I found I have to purge my log directory (on
both ends) manually to avoid locking the program up.
