 If I open pidgin then start a chat it crashes after typing a line or two.

 Version - 2.5.5.
 Source - deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu
 intrepid main
 Distribution - Ubuntu Intrepid

 Reproducible - always (except for one exception).

 I will attach a backtrace and a debug log and the output of valgrind.

 It does NOT crash when run under valgrind. This FAQ entry discusses this
