 I don't think it is working again no...I have noticed that it DOES work
 when the others on your contact list are using alternate MSN clients such
 as Trillian, etc. It does NOT work if they are using the latest official
 MSN clients, however.

 Are you sure those icons you saw updating were not from individuals using
 clients other than the official Microsoft client?
